Egypt eclipse 2027: Luxor tours and hotels
⏳ …
On August 2, 2027 the longest total solar eclipse of the 2020s (NASA: maximum 6m 23s, greatest eclipse 10:07 UT) passes close to Luxor. Our computed figures give about 6m 25s of totality in Luxor with the Sun around 82° high — near-overhead — at roughly 10:05 UT. Upper Egypt in August has some of the best clear-sky odds on Earth, which is why Luxor is expected to be one of the most in-demand eclipse destinations of the decade.
Planning notes
- Heat: temperatures above 40 °C are normal in August. Plan shade, water and a cool place to retreat to.
- Aswan is not in totality — about 99.8% partial (computed). Stay in or near Luxor.
- Book refundable early: hotels and Nile cruises are likely to sell out.
- Eclipse glasses (ISO 12312-2) are needed for all partial phases.
